Eyes are formed on wire ropes by a flemish eye splice technique. (Mechanically swaged eye flemish.) Separation of the rope into two parts, which are then re-strand back into each other creating the eye. A metal sleeve is then pressed over the ends, swaging the wire rope together.
Cut away of the metal sleeve swaged shows the metal pressed into the strands of the wire rope. This swage prevents ends from unlaying when sling is used within its rated capacity.
